Open-science.it is the Italian portal dedicated to Open Science, Open Access to research outputs and many related topics. The portal hosts general information, training material, events, news and updates of national and international relevance, introductory material and resources related to specific problems, as well as analysis and advanced information. It is addressed to the Italian speaking community, contents are only available in Italian for now. 

The portal enables users to discover events and relevant news in the Open Science movement with both an international perspective and a specific focus on Italy. Considering the wide range of topics related to Open Science and their varying implications according to the involved actors, specific resources and information are provided for different types of users. The various topics related to Open Science can therefore be selected on the basis of 4 specific viewpoints: researcher, research institution, financing body, citizen.

Once you have selected the type of user, you can choose among the following topics: Open Science, Research data management, Open science Policies, Repository, Research Funding Organizations and Open Access, Services, Open Science projects and initiatives. You can select articles by user or by topic directly from the homepage.

 

About us

Open-science.it is a project developed by the Institute of Information Science and Technologies of the National Research Council of Pisa to promote and study Open Science topics. It started within the activities of OpenAIRE, the European infrastructure for Open Access, and is supported by the ICDI Competence Centre, an initiative in which experts from diverse sectors and who are affiliated with various institutions collaborate.The portal aims to be a point of reference for the Italian speaking scientific community on issues related to Open Science, Open Access and in general to innovations in academic and scientific communication.

 

How to contribute to the portal and propose an article

Open-science.it is the Italian portal dedicated to Open Science, Open Access to research outputs and many related topics. The website is edited and curated by an editorial committee, external contributions are either added following the editorial board’s requests or sent spontaneously.

Anyone who wishes to submit an in depth-article on specific topics of the portal can do so  as follows:

  • The specific topic of interest is summarised in a short abstract (maximum 1,000 characters) and sent to info@open-science.it, along with a short biography of the author or authors.

  • The editorial committee evaluates the proposal.

  • If you receive a favourable answer from the editorial committee, you can prepare the article with the following characteristics: language should be simple; maximum length of 10,000 characters; with hypertext links whenever necessary; with as few footnotes as possible; together with, if necessary, tables, graphs and infographics (maximum 2 elements per article).

  • The deadlines for sending the extended version are agreed upon with the editorial committee.

  • Each article is read by a member of the editorial board (or by a person identified by the latter) who may request modifications, additions or corrections.
